Anyway, YES for the food, WHAT? For the other things. The chocolate peanut butter “bomb” for dessert was OK, but pretty much like you’d buy a good bakery… not a lot of bold flavor of peanut butter or chocolate like I would have liked. Wife had the salmon Oscar which she said was very good (I did not taste it, not wanting to mix fish -taste with my entree). It was wonderfully balanced with different flavors in each of the aforementioned items. I had a sliced pork tenderloin entrée with sage (?) gnocchi, roasted asparagus, spinach with garlic, and some kind of tomato or red pepper coulis, and a roasted artichoke heart. They have a very inventive chef who knows not only to “try something different,” but to do it with both bold and complimentary flavors to create something you’ve never had, but something you’d love to have again. But the food was spectacular! And isn’t that the main reason we’re here? The seafood chowder was the best I’ve ever had, and I make my own from scratch. So, between the music, the temperature and the lighting, it was not a pleasant experience so far. To be fair, we were all over 70 years old so maybe old age was the culprit here (they were celebrating their 51st anniversary and we our 56th). ![]() He told us he thought it was cold, and we told him “You should have been here a half-an-hour ago before they turned the temperature up.” Even so, all four of us wore jackets. We noticed that the husband was holding his menu up to his eyeballs, so we asked if he wanted our loaner-flashlight, and he was very grateful. Then another couple was seated at the table next to us about 30 minutes into our seating time and were the only other people in the main dining room with us at the time. The hostess came in with an iPad and turned it down for us. The server came over and I shouted to her that the music was too loud. Then about ½ hour in, the volume was changed to be so loud I had to literally SHOUT to my wife to converse. Music piped in from their live lounge piano player was at a subdued volume so people could talk… that was nice. She said it’s dark because it’s “romantic.” OK… but if you can’t even see the face of your companion, how romantic is that? Anyway, we then mentioned the cold temperature and the hostess came over and went over to the wall and changed the thermostat to be warmer. They seemed to be quick with the flashlight, so I assume this happens all the time. Server noticed and brought a small flashlight so we could see the menu. Wife took her menu over under some overhead lights and tried to read it there. We were the first to be seated in the main dining room (Saturday, 5:30PM) and when we walked in it must have been about 65 degrees! Very cold! We went out to the. “Mixed bag” as the boomers say, at the Log Cabin for us.
